The remark made by the journalist was that the ‘tickets are priced high in order that the Bachchans can jangle their jewelry on stage’ ! A most repulsive remark and one that got instant rebuttal from the media.
(The question is not an original in any case. The Beatle John Lennon first used it in one of his concerts when he was provoking the audience to applaud. He had said ‘ the back seats and the tiers to clap their hands and the front rows to jangle their jewelry’. But it requires a certain honesty and integrity to acknowledge that, one not forthcoming from this journo.)
Long live the bloggers and respondents ! You will be the future, if not one already. An article in the London Times wrote a wonderful piece on how the blog will gradually sound the death knell for critics and critiques. I shall try and put it up once I get back to Mumbai.
